On a ship from the people's Republic of China they arrived at the port santacruceño Punta Quilla to the second turbine for Hydroelectric power plant Governor Jorge Cepernic, and numerous electro-mechanical components for this dam and the dam President Néstor Kirchner. The president of Energy Argentina, Augustine Gerez, stressed that “the arrival of this equipment, and more than 2,800 workers that we have in this moment in activity in the work, demonstrate the strong momentum that we're giving to this project, from the approaches made by the minister Massa to reactivate expenditures of the people's Republic of China”, and explained that “it is a work with a clear sense federal because it will allow us to produce from the south of the Patagonia clean and renewable energy for all argentines, to diversify the array and reduce imports of liquid fuels”.

The turbine of Kaplan type, with a capacity of 120 MW, specially designed and manufactured to the central Jorge Cepernic according to international standards, and the rest of the teams, set out on the 31st of August from the port of Shanghai. The burden, of a total of 6,800 tons, complete with components of the turbine N°3 of this dam and elements to the Néstor Kirchner, among which stand out gates for the weir, ll (metal structures necessary for the operation and maintenance of the works) and bars to the water intake of the engine house.
The hydroelectric complex of the Santa Cruz river will have an installed power of 1.310 MW, of which correspond to 360 MW to the central Cepernic and 950 MW of President Néstor Kirchner. The same will allow for an annual savings of 1,500 million us $ by substitution of import of liquid fuels and generated during construction 20 thousand jobs between direct and indirect.
