The deputy minister of Electric Power Federico Basualdo spearheaded, together with the secretary of Energy Dario Martinez, the first meeting of the Working Team of Hydro power stations, Concessions” (ETAHC), that will perform a comprehensive analysis of the state of affairs of the concession contracts of 22 hydro power stations in eight provinces.
The secretary of Energy, Darío Martínez, pointed out that “with the formation of this team, we will take the right decisions, supported by the work of the most qualified people in the areas of government and different sectors related to the development of the hydroelectric power plants”.
And he added that “thanks to the diagnosis that will be generated by this computer, and in an Argentina that demand more and more energy, since the Energy Secretariat will continue to work to provide that energy that will allow us to continue to grow. We will invite the provinces to participate in this process, according to what we committed with Alberto and Cristina rebuild a country, more and more federal”.
For his part, the assistant secretary Basualdo explained that “the objective of this work table is to give the Executive Power and, eventually, the Legislative Power, a diagnostic report on the current status of the hydroelectric power stations licensed for 30 years and a suggestion of an alternative path to follow, in connection with its grant and control in the years to come.
The official also recalled that “these plants, in addition to have been constructed by the State, are a very important element in the framework of the energy transition that is giving our electric system, to address this process in a successful way”.
It is worth remembering that the ETAHC is a team composed of representatives of the Secretariat of Energy, the office of the Undersecretary for Electricity, CAMMESA, the ENRE, the Energy company in Argentina and of the companies that currently have the grant of hydro power stations, among others.
This working group will be in charge of the survey integral of twenty-two concessions of hydro power stations in eight provinces, with an installed capacity of 5.8 GW in total.
Between the missions assigned to it, the Team shall prepare a detailed report, detailing the status of each grant in its technical, economic, legal and environmental, in view of the upcoming expiration of their respective contracts.
In the first instance, the ETAHC shall report in respect of the concessions that are due in the year 2023, and will then proceed to the analysis of the concessions remaining. Participated in the meeting in addition, Sebastían Bonetto, General Manager of CAMMESA, Loneliness Manin, Comptroller of the ENRE, Gaston Leydet, Deputy General manager of Energy Argentina, Hugo Baldasarre, president of AGEERA. Also present were representatives of the Central Port, Pampa energía, the Argentinean Committee of Dams, Hydroelectric Futaleufú, among others.
